Vanilla Strawberry Ombre Cake: A Layered Delight

Vanilla Strawberry Ombre Cake: A Layered Delight πŸ“

✅️ Ingredients:

For the Cake:

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

2 ½ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup whole milk

Pink food coloring (optional, for ombre effect)

For the Frosting:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cups powdered sugar

2–3 tablespoons milk or heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pink food coloring (for ombre effect)

For Decoration:

Fresh strawberries, whole and halved

Edible gold sprinkles

Powdered sugar for dusting

✅️ Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three round cake pans (8-inch or 9-inch).

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

If you are creating the ombre effect, divide the batter into two or three bowls. Add pink food coloring to each bowl, varying the amount for each to create a gradient from light to dark pink.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pans, starting with the lightest color. Alternate the colors in each pan for a smooth ombre effect.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

While the cakes cool, prepare the frosting. Beat the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add the powdered sugar. Add the milk (or heavy cream) and vanilla extract and beat until smooth and fluffy. For the ombre frosting effect, add a little pink food coloring to part of the frosting.

Once the cakes are fully cooled, frost the layers with the plain white frosting. Then, using the pink frosting, decorate the top and sides of the cake, blending the colors for an ombre look.

Decorate the cake with fresh strawberries, edible gold sprinkles, and a light dusting of powdered sugar before serving.
